In the EMU University Marketing office, all of the work serves the overall mission of increasing student enrollment. Projects were created for various departments on campus, as well as the university itself. In the summer 2017, new university-wide brand guidelines were developed and our team was responsible for leading the implementation transition. This is a small selection of materials created as a part of the updated branding.

Metropolis is an architecture and design magazine that has been circulated since 1981. Based in New York City, it boasts over 50,000 print subscribers.

Our team was approached to rethink their online presence for the purposes of an improved, more dynamic web presentation of their world-class journalism and other content, as well as a website that more accurately reflected the Metropolis brand, and better augmented the print publication.

Kroff, Inc., based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, provides industry-leading water and wastewater treatment and recycling services to an array of industry sectors.

Needing an updated contemporary website design, Kroff, Inc. also aimed to unify several disparate internal divisions under a singular cohesive brand identity through the launch of this new website.

Amgen Inc. is an American multinational biopharmaceutical company. One of the world's largest independent biotechnology companies, Amgen was established in Thousand Oaks, California, in 1980.

Repatha is a medication created by Amgen, which is used to lower LDL cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes in patients.

Web Design

Due to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, the annual Farm Aid festival was not held in-person and was instead hosted virtually online.

The festival organizers asked for a logo that reflected the special digital-centric aspect of the event. They also hoped to appeal to a younger audience range due to the special circumstances.

Logo Design

The Ann Arbor Distilling Company had decided to change the bottle shape of their popular Arbor Seasonal product line to a taller bottle to increase visibility on the bar shelf. This bottle change allowed the opportunity to create new labels for the products.

This bottle design features embossed paper labels on the front, as well as transparent printed vinyl on the back.

Label Design

Invest Detroit is a mission-driven lender, investor, and partner that supports business and real estate projects to ignite economic growth in Detroit and the region.

Website Design

The Aces are an American alternative pop band from Provo, Utah, signed to Red Bull Records. Following up a debut album in 2018, the band and label wanted to create an online promotion to create awareness and buzz for their followup release in 2020.

The campaign tracked fan votes from their hometown, and following the conclusion of the promotion, the band would visit the top cities for an in-person listening party.

The site was designed to be mobile-first, intuitive user flow, and reflect the light minimalistic aesthetic desired by the band.

The Detroit Design Festival is an annual gathering and celebration of designers from across all disciplines, recognizing work that establishes Detroit as a national and international center for design. This exercise was to create a visual identity and materials to promote the festival. The project included developing a logo, postcards, event pamphlet, and website.

The Riverside Arts Center in downtown Ypsilanti, Michigan recently merged facilities with the FLY Learning Center and sought to use this transition as an opportunity to reinvent a new visual identity. Ypsilanti, as a diverse community, Riverside aimed to develop an identity that is welcoming of all aspects of that diversity. This rebranding was selected by the Riverside Arts Center to be implemented and was officially unveiled in the Spring of 2018.

This exercise was to create video promotional ad for the popular radio show This American Life for the local Michigan Radio NPR station.

Motion Graphics, Sound Editing, Video Direction

This series of three posters has been redesigned with a generative process that randomly rotates quarter-circle sections and various other forms to create the foundation for the design. The resulting shapes mimick the structure and elegance of the classical repertoire, while recognizing the energy and uniqueness of a live performance. 

Screen Print, Poster Design

Photography is a popular hobby and can be a way to express yourself, and show off your creativity. While DSLR cameras are popular, it's not uncommon for a new photographer to have a limited understanding of camera operation.

This project was designed to act as a field reference for beginners to become more capable photographers, and allow less reliance on fully automatic exposure settings.

Screen Print, Poster Design

This deck of cards is based on circus sideshow posters combined with vintage tattoo illustration styles, and traditional playing card imagery. An entire 52 card + 2 jokers deck has been designed for production. Three face card designs were enlarged 14"⨉22½" and screen printed for a Senior Capstone Exhibition.

These promotional materials were created for the 2018 AJSS exhibition at the EMU School of Art + Design. This show featured work from all concentrations and both upper and underclassmen.

Identity Concept

This exercise was to create an animation on the general topic of "escape". This short narrative depicts a brief type of escape from daily life that we often seek throughout the day.

This was a first attempt at Duik character rigging tools in After Effects.

Motion Video

These 3D model graphics were created for the Eastern Michigan University Housing & Residence Life to illustrate dorm layouts for future students to understand housing options. The models were built in SketchUp with a tape measure to record room dimensions furniture. The models were rendered in Cinema 4D.

3D Modeling

This poster is designed for a coffee drinker who is interested in how the coffee bean is roasted and ground, and how that can impact the taste of coffee after brewing. This information is useful when ordering at a cafe, or when brewing at home.

Infographic, Photography

This series of illustrations is a weekly practice prompt focusing on illustrating iconic buildings in Detroit, Michigan. The illustration of the Renaissance Center was used for a poster design, and was screen printed to be sold.
